We're told it was a full crowd, and about 20 people got up to speak. Of those, we're also told that it was about evenly split for and against.

Lubbock County Judge Tom Head has delusions about the UN taking over, and him standing up to them by standing in front of their armored personnel carriers. Is the whole Republican party on drugs, or does that kind of thinking just lend itself to this kind of delusional idiocy?

Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa had this to say about Head's statement:

There are a lot of unanswered questions here. Does Judge Head expect the United Nations to come in riding a couple of combines? Does Lubbock also need an Air Force? A Navy? Will the revenues from this tax increase be put into a dedicated account to fight the U.N. invasion? Will the money be returned to taxpayers if the U.N. army doesn’t make it into Lubbock County? What will happen if the Sweetwater militia defeats the vicious blue-beanie peace-keepers before they reach Lubbock?

Judge Head’s statements on the United Nations invasion raise serious questions about his mental competency to hold elected office. Ted Cruz is clearly in good company. Republican crazies have now taken over the Lubbock County courthouse.

I think the guy is clearly delusional, and should be evaluated by a mental health professional. Seriously. He should resign, so that Lubbock County can have some sane leadership.

Mitt Romney continues to flat out lie about President Obama supposedly removing a work requirement from welfare programs. Here is Politifact's "pants on fire" ruling. Romney also continues to misrepresent Obama's "you didn't build that" statement, even when it's perfectly clear in context what he was talking about.

One thing is clear in this November's election: The wrong side absolutely must not win.

Thanks to those of you who like me, wrote letters to Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson asking him to carry out the voters' will, and release $300 million for public education. Patterson responded to us today with a very insulting letter. We need to prove him wrong about us being "slacktivists", and let him know that we care about our schools and expect him to hold up his promise.

Quote of the day (via Facebook):
LOST: My political party. REWARD IF FOUND.

My party can be identified by the following: My party focuses on personal responsibility, equality of opportunity, and fiscal conservatism. My party believes in limited government and state sovereignty. My party understands there is a very small, but significant pool of people who legitimately need temporary help due to circumstances beyond their control. Please note, there parties that may appear similar, but are definitely not mine. For example, my party does not waste time, money, and resources passing grandstanding resolutions about topics not currently under debate such as “In God We Trust” on money. When my party proclaims the government should stay out of the bedroom, it understands that means not passing laws saying what is legal for adults to do when alone. People in my party do not mindlessly pass around emails that even the most rudimentary Google search would show are false. People who support my party do not post misleading graphs and pictures of half-truths on Facebook. My party understands religion is more important than freedom of speech and the right to bear arms combined. As such, if the government was supposed to play a role in this area the founding fathers would have explicitly spelled it out in the Bill of Rights. My party does not try to shine by comparison to another party’s failings, it is great all on its own.
