State Representative Ron Simmons held a combination political event and Town Hall meeting Wednesday in Lewisville, Texas. The representative and Republican guests spent most of the time talking about conservative victories in the most recent legislative session, then spent about 17 minutes taking softball questions. Representatives Tan Parker, Pat Fallon, and Geanie Morrison were on hand, and heaped praise on Simmons for his record in his freshman session. Morrison presented him with the "Courageous Conservative" award.

The sparsely-attended event was billed as a State Rep town hall-style meeting, and was held at public expense in the City of Lewisville's MCL Grand Theater. Despite assurances to the contrary, it was partisan in nature, with an audience of predominantly conservatives. Simmons' office had used a website from the Texas Conservative Coalition to advertise the event, for which participants had to register as "Conservative Texan". Morrison gave a presentation about the Conservative Coalition, and its achievements.

LTJ had contacted Simmons' district director early in the week to inquire about the meeting, which we would not have filmed if we had known that it was intended for Republicans rather than for a general audience.
