The sixth-ranked volleyball team in Class 6A made the short trip to Lewisville Tuesday and extended its winning streak to 11 matches.

District 6-6A leader Hebron defeated Lewisville 25-16, 25-21, 25-18. The loss keeps the Lady Farmers (12-18 overall, 4-6 in district) looking up at the top four teams in the district, and battling for their postseason lives with less than a month of the season remaining.

Hebron improved to 32-4 overall and 11-0 in district play. The Lady Hawks were led by University of New Orleans recruit Jordan Yauch’s 11 kills, SMU pledge Kendall Patterson’s 11 digs, and Oregon State commit Kylee McLaughlin’s 21 assists.

“Hebron is like a machine,” Lewisville coach Libby Rodriguez said after the match. “They are so much better than they were when we saw them during the first round of district play.”

Lewisville remained competitive throughout the match, extending all three games. Outside hitter Jermila Tigner led the Lady Farmers with 11 kills. Senior libero Micah Dinwiddie, who recently committed to play collegiately at Texas State, had 18 digs.

Tigner and Dinwiddie are among a group of six senior leaders for fourth-year coach Rodriguez, who remains upbeat when the subject of playoff positioning is raised.

“If we play like we did tonight down the stretch, we have as good a chance as anyone at extending our season into the playoffs,” Rodriguez added. “I’m excited. We are playing at a high level here in the second round of district play.”

The road to the playoffs won’t get much easier on Friday. Lewisville travels to Allen to meet the district’s second-place team.
