MOON OVER BUFFALO — 3 p.m. at Lakeside Community Theater, 6303 Main Street in The Colony. In the comedy tradition of Lend Me a Tenor, the play centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s who are playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in Buffalo, New York. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel. The following items are from Visual Art League of Lewisville:

On Tuesday, May 3rd, the Visual Art League of Lewisville will hold a fund raiser at the Fish City Grill in Flower Mound. Serving hours are from 11 am to 10 p.m.

Opening reception for “Strictly Texas” will take place at the MCL Grand Theater art gallery on Saturday, May 7th from 7-9. This is a juried show and will run through June 11th.

Fresh Ideas 2015 Winner’s Show and the Black/White members show will take place from June 18th through July 23rd. Opening reception will be on Saturday, June 25th from 7-9 at the MCL Grand.

"Recycled Into Art" is in the North Wing of the MCL Grand from May 5-July 2.

“ATC” in showcase from May 5-July 2.

Art Talk May 10th 7-9 p.m. at MCL Grand in classroom #3.

Lewisville Animal Services will hold its annual Paws in the Park adoption event on Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Lewisville Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, 995 E. Valley Ridge Blvd., across from Toyota of Lewisville Railroad Park.

Paws in the Park is a free, large-scale adoption event incorporating fun for all ages throughout the day, featuring on–site adoptions, rescue organizations, educational opportunities, pet-related vendors, food trucks, animal demonstrations, and a “Silent Pawction” to raise money for animal care. There also will be plenty of fun things for pets and pet owners, such as a photo booth, ball pit, and chalk walk.

The 3rd annual Wiener Dog & Wanna-Be Wiener Dog Race starts at 9:45 a.m. A weenie dog applicant must have the appearance of a dachshund. A wannabe applicant must be a small dog (under 15 lbs.) of any breed or mix that wishes it were a dachshund and wants to race. The winners from each category will compete in a final race. Trophies will be awarded for each category and a grand prize trophy will be given to the fastest racer of the day. Shot records and current rabies vaccinations are required for all racing applicants. A $24 donation is requested from race participants, but is not required.

The City of Lewisville’s first ever ColorPalooza: A Celebration of Spring will be held Saturday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Old Town Lewisville. This family-friendly event will feature a variety of entertainment, exhibits and interactive events for spring.

Admission is free, although some activities might carry a nominal charge. Musical and cultural groups will perform on the Wayne Ferguson Plaza stage and the City Hall steps throughout the day. Food trucks and vendors will offer a variety of food choices, including some with vegan and organic menus.

Main attractions will allow festival-goers the chance to put their artistic chalk skills on display, revel in the beauty of sidewalk chalk art created by professionals, and learn about environmentally friendly products and good conservation habits.

Chalk This Way
This crowd favorite, sponsored by The Lakeside Arts Foundation, returns to Old Town Lewisville for its sixth year. The Lakeside Arts Foundation is looking for artists of all ages who would like to try their hand at chalk art and compete for various prizes in the amateur art competition. To compete, there is a fee of $20 the day of the event. Each artist will be given an event t-shirt, chalk, supplies, a handy pail to keep it all in and a chance to win one of several awards, worth up to $100.

Easter Services and activities

This Sunday is Easter. Here are some services and activities for Sunday:

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE — 7 a.m. on the Flower Mound. Parking will be in the Tom Thumb and neighboring parking lots. The Sunrise Service is somewhat rustic: there is no stage and guests sit on the ground or lawn chairs. This year, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will preside at the service. Light refreshments and coffee will be available after the services. If heavy rains occur, the service will be canceled. For more information, visit

EASTER SUNDAY BRUNCH CRUISE — 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Pier 121 Marina in Lewisville. Lounge on beanbags and enjoy Lake Lewisville on the Chamonix II, a BYOB boat. Blue Mesa Grill will cater the brunch, which will consist of an omelet station, pancakes, vegetarian and other classic breakfast items. This is a family friendly event. For more information, visit
