Tim Barnwell Runs for Mayor of Providence Village

You may remember Tim Barnwell, the Democratic candidate who ran for U.S. Representative in 2006. Barnwell is announcing his run for Mayor of the newly recognized Town of Providence Village:
Barnwell Launches Campaign For Mayor

PROVIDENCE VILLAGE, TX - May 19th, 2010. Long time Providence Village resident Timothy R. Barnwell is pleased to announce his candidacy for mayor of the newly incorporated Town of Providence Village.

When asked why he decided to run for mayor Barnwell said: “I believe Providence residents want to make sure the community keeps the charm and unique qualities that make The Town of Providence Village the special place that it is while making the changes necessary for a successful future.”

Tim Barnwell has over twenty years experience in entrepreneurial business management strategy. His expertise in sales and marketing, dispute resolution, process improvement, and change management has aided in the growth and profitability of service and manufacturing organizations.

An early student of management leaders Robert Townsend and Peter Drucker, Barnwell has been a longtime advocate of effective leadership, empowerment, and ethical business policy.

Barnwell earned a B.A. Cum Laude in Historical Studies with concentrations in Education and Communication from the University of Texas Dallas. In addition, Barnwell has completed coursework in mediation at Texas Woman’s University as well as negotiation at the University of Dallas where he received an MBA in December 2005. Barnwell has also studied contracts, torts, federal procedure, and legal research, as well as property and negotiation.

Barnwell has had a strong interest in politics including a run for U.S. Congress in 2006. In addition, he is a past associate member of the American Bar Association and its Dispute Resolution section, and a member of the Center for Latin American Economics.

Tim Barnwell moved to the North Texas area in 1977, where he married Beverly Dorsett, a Fort Worth native. The couple settled in Highland Village, where they grew to a family of four. Later the family moved to Flower Mound, and then to North Carrollton. Tim and Beverly have resided in Providence Village for the past 7 years.
